Eating out

March 7, 2006
Well it seems that March came in like a lamb around here, but I was a bit too busy to notice.  I was very busy at a convention staying in downtown Vancouver last week and had an opportunity to eat out for most of my meals.  One evening my husband took me out to a lovely Italian restaurant called Cin Cin (prounouced chin-chin).
We have been there before, but don’t go often as it is a bit on the expensive side, but well worth it.  Their menu has many entrees from the alder grill and it is delicious.  This night we didn’t have to drive home so we ordered from the tasting menu with the wine pairings for each dish.  That means they select a menu for you and their sommlier has a perfect wine matched with each dish.  The experience is divine and a little dizzying.
We both chose the old world menu this night as I have copied here.
AMSUE BOUCE – pecorino cheese and soy beans on lettuce cup

ANTIPASTO – Carpaccio – beef tenderloin, pecorino, celery leaves with truffle vinaigrette.  Paired with Kris, Pinot Grigio.

PRIMO – Calamari alla Griglia – squid and chorizo "scilican lifeguard style."  Paired with Tomasi, Valpolicella Classico Superiore.

PASTA – Garganelli Al Vitello – Braised veal cheeks, shitake mushrooms, grana padano and veal jus.  Paired with A-Mano, primitivo.

SECONDO – Scottaditi D’Agnello – Grilled double lamb chop, chanterelle farrotto, and salsa verde.  Paired with Lamborhini, Trescone.

DOLCE – Tiramisu – Choffee soaked housemade lady fingers, marscarpone, shaved chocolate.  Paired with Nivole, Moscato D’Asti

DOLCETTO – finger sized chocolate cakes and cookies.  Paired with water because we were really happy by this time and I think shy a few brain cells.  I hope they were the ones that stored dull math questions for high school.

The whole experience was marvelous, and I had a wonderful evening.  You can even check out their website and watch a  short video!
